The brief
For this domestic EV charging project in Cleveleys, the customer wanted a premium charge point that would look attractive on the property and give them the option of charging from solar energy in future.
After talking through their vehicle, their charging routine and their plans for renewable generation, Northern Tec recommended the Myenergi Zappi GLO.
Why we specified the Zappi GLO
The Zappi is a smart EV charger that works like any conventional home charge point, but it can also integrate with a solar PV system. When there is suitable generation available, it diverts surplus energy into the car instead of exporting all of it to the grid.
The GLO version offers the same smart-charging behaviour in a distinctive modern housing, which mattered here because the charger sits on a visible elevation.
A discreet installation
The appearance of the finished job was a priority for the customer, so our electricians planned the charger position and cable route to keep visible containment across the front of the property to an absolute minimum.
The Zappi was securely mounted, connected to a dedicated circuit and configured with the appropriate protective and load-management equipment for the property's supply.
After installation we completed the required inspection and testing, then helped the customer pair the charger with the Myenergi app.
The result
The customer now has a charge point that works today on a standard smart electricity tariff, and is already wired and configured to take surplus solar generation when their PV system goes in.
